19th January 1917: Diary

Fri., Jan 19, 1917                              A.28b.7.8.

6 AM Weather fine – cold.
10 AM Situation quiet – Wind North East.
2 PM Enemy aeroplane – new type – flew over our front line at an altitude of about 250 feet, firing into the trench with rifle.
3 PM Hostile trench mortars slightly active. Hostile artillery quiet.
6 PM Working party of 28 men engaged on cleaning trenches etc.
